'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' adds Lin-Manuel Miranda as guest star

Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Avowed Brooklyn Nine-Nine fan Lin-Manuel Miranda is scheduled to guest star on the NBC sitcom as the brother of a main character.

Miranda, the mastermind behind Broadway smash Hamilton and star of Mary Poppins Returns, is set to appear in a March 7 episode, "The Golden Child," as David Santiago, brother of Melissa Fumero's character, Amy.

Set photos of Miranda filming with the cast were released to Entertainment Weekly and TVLine.

Miranda was a vocal supporter of the sitcom when it was axed by Fox after its fifth season, and he was spotted partying with members of the cast less than 48 hours after NBC announced it would be picking up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a 13-episode sixth season, which was later expanded to include five additional episodes.

Series co-creator Dan Goor had said after the renewal that he would be interested in having Miranda and other vocal celebrity fans of the show appear as guest stars in season six.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine also stars Andy Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Andre Braugher and Joe Lo Truglio.
